Today I had to stay at home because we are in quarantine. However, it is not an impediment to comment on a story. Just enough that we cross the road that goes between Curacautín to Malalcahuello, where passing through a ravine we access a path that reaches a bridge and in turn, a gigantic jump where in front there is a Food Truck called: "El Príncipe ”known for his complete and fries.
But what matters, is not the delicious meals in the Food Truck at all, I am actually referring to the famous jump called “El Salto de la Princesa”.
But why is it called that?
Let's do some history.
Malalcahuello is considered as a corral where the horses were kept as indicated by their actions, it all began when a Huichical Cacique wanted to have a horse, he commissioned it to his lackeys and for what he decides to do this kind of contest: That he will give his hand to his daughter Rayén in exchange for the famous white steed.
Quilacura was the first of them, who arrived in the morning with the black steed, which was delivered to the chief, in order to receive the girl's hand.
In spite of everything, she was against that proposition so she proceeds to flee the region, she rejected Quilacura, fleeing her with his lover.
Huillical then ordered his men who, according to him, had stolen his daughter, to a persecution that would culminate in the Sierra Nevada sector (close to what we now know as Manzanar) and reached the couple in the middle of the afternoon ordering that surrendered, the princess and her lover took refuge in a forest until the couple ends up jumping into the void, crashing in the middle of a ravine.
According to legend, at this time a gigantic ponytail emerged from the rocky cliff, symbolizing the legend of the princess.
While Quilacura did not want to give up and proceeds to flee through where we know him as the Cahuin River with his heart destroyed for losing his partner, but from there a slip caused him to play a trick: an immense sorrow slowly invaded his spirit which made him go into a complete rage, so much so that he aroused the fury of the adjacent gods and sent him a ray that caused him to burn completely. From there it turned into stone causing it to transform into a thunderous waterfall, approximately twenty-five meters long, which we know as the Salto del Indio.
Hence, this curious legend was born.
However, seeing today the Indian is now where there is a complex of cabins.
And while in the princess you could still see the discreet tranquility ... while they heard the flow while in the Food Truck they continued to attend
